The last ones are of Purgatory, which is a killer little crag. Allah did a super job of trail building and route development. The routes are crazy hard and are much steeper then they look.
The huge swing and tree humping was kinda cool. Next time should get some shots of you all doing the swing.
Paul, that is drug pusher at Wall of Denail. Super hard and cool roof climbing, to crappy (and easy) climbing once you turn the lip. Worth jumping on if you are all the way out there though.

maybe it is just becuase we share the same name but i don't think merrick's photos stand up against the top guys. i mean he takes great shots and is definitely better than me but corey rich, time kemple, aaron black, jimmy chin, and simon carter all seem a step above.
there are a number of factors. i think they generally have tighter focus, stronger color, and better composition. but i think they also capture the drama better. and i think the best shots are the ones with the most drama. i just wish i understood how the best guys get those velvety images.
i guess i know, aaron carries a massive lens around. and sets the exposure with a grey card for every shot. and spends tons of time composing the shot. it is a slow method but it definately produces consistent high quality stuff.

merrick, I guess I think of him as kinda an up and coming climbing photographer, maybe? Plus, he doesn't seem to have his better stuff on his website, but posted on rc.com or b.com. He stands out on that level.
I know what you are saying about how they get those shots. I look at my stuff, then look at someone like Brians (
http://www.lightontheland.com), Tim Kemple, Aaron Black, etc and wonder if they are just using different gear or have some kinda soul selling deal with satan. But, really, it is just their skillz and their ability to be in the right place at the right time to put those skillz to use. Something to work toward.
