SKIN SO SOFT Bug Guard Plus IR3535® Insect Repellent will keep the biters away. The stuff is amazing and won't give you cancer like Deet will. You put it on and the bugs stay about one foot away. It's cool to go from being eaten alive to seeing them just hover a short distance away from you. It's in my pack for the summer months. It works for about 4 out of 5 people that I have given it to in the Red. I put that stuff on and I don't get bitten at all.

I agree completely...Everyone should avoid climbing at the gorge over the summer. I guess the spring is really rainy, so everyone should avoid that too. come to think of it...the winter is kinda cold, so you all should stay away then also. I think there might be a week or two in the fall, but thats about it.

put up with the bugs. if its too hot to climb, get on easy trad routes (for sport punks like me) or go exploring and establish some new areas. thats my plan for the summer
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.

I got lucky - I am one of those who have a chemical make-up that doesn't attract bugs. :D

I'm with Artsay, the bugs bug me more than the heat. I say go do some climbing in Canada.

don't forget about summersville lake. Best close summer destination. The climbing is good, but the location is excellent in the summer.

Yup 2 weeks in the fall. That's about it. You don't really want to sweat to death and be eaten alive by bugs and snakes. Your SUV might overheat too.
