now that we've totally hijacked this...does anyone on here personally know any black people that rock climb? I have met derrick from Columbus, but that is all. why is this sport so "cracker" like hockey? where I live, about 5% of the population is black, about 10% is hispanic, 5% indian, and the rest white. but I would be pretty safe in saying our gym is 100% white folk. wonder what draws white people to rock climbing? my parents didn't climb, so it can't be from enculturation.

i know a couple black guys that climb, a few hispanic, and a lot of asian folk. i suspect there is a cultural aspect, probably also an economic aspect. but it seems pointless to speculate really.
