If you have some free time and want a really good record player go to some estate auctions. I've heard of $2,000 record players selling for under $100.

Newpapers and auction listings. There should be at least one local auctioneer (sp?). Call up their office and ask for a list of auctions this month. Go and see what you can see.

I worked one a few years ago and some interesting stuff was sold. The house for $25k (nice small starter home), garden supplies, and I kid you not, 6 cans of freon.

Classifieds section of the paper. Visit the locations that have stereo equipment and some may have a very detailed list of whats up for grab. I got a record player this way for $50 and the needle alone is worth over $1000.

That's why you find someone who is an auction buff and have them keep an eye out for you.
