Only the ones that wanted to let the squaws overhear to let them know how cool and wise a climber they are.

I wonder if they dry-tooled with tomahawks.

Didn't anyone ever read Blue Feather by Zane Grey? A native american boy soloes a cliff with a deer tied to him just to win the girl.

The staircase is not 5.5, the staircase is 3rd or 4th class.

Yeah, the climbing area is about 200-300 feet left of the 4th class scramble. Make sure you go halfway up first.

Just for a heads up I'll be there with some beginners on sunday.

If they don't like the hike they don't need to be climbing.

The approach is about a mile & is a pleasant hike. From the top of the Staircase you can make a loop hike around the cliff rim to hook back up with the Sheltowee. Other area attractions are a large rock shelter & a couple small arches.

I totally understand haas. But if they were non-parental gumbies you should just crack the old whip and make them march up ther eno matter what. But Cpt. Static is right...not a bad hike really and well worth it.

Hell, I don't really like long hikes to climb. Does that mean I shouldn't be climbing? I kinda like hiking, but not when it takes away from my time on the rock.
