is it possible or better probable that someone could be solid 5.12 off the couch but that "solid" 5.13 could be more fleeting other than the obvious higher grade but that something more intrinsic separates these two grades than say 5.9 to 5.10 or 5.10 to 5.11 or I'm I just a moron?

my goal of climbing is to hang around as many tight-wearing whiners as possible. i love crowds, i love community, i love helping, and i love spraying about my near sends. i've been working this route at purple valley called armageddon and i really don't think it's that hard. i'm just "out of shape". i've one-hanged several times on toprope, and last time i fell right at the end going for the no hands rest. bummer dude! i hope to send that thing on tr soon and then go for the redpoint burns! i love you scarecrow!

For me it's simply the next highest number which will obviously show me that I have improved. A few years ago it would've read "5.12".

Yep, there are those milestone type ticks for sure, I guess my real goal is to make the ones that are within reason:
5.12 sport onsight
5.12 trad redpoint
5.13 sport redpoint
5.13 trad redpoint
Doubt I will ever make the 5.13 onsight level.

all of the above plus others.
My reason for climbing is to get outside, have fun, hangout with friends, climb some cool routes.
My goal is to have fun and to improve. I don't really care how hard I climb, but improving each season or throughout the season really gets me excited and makes me feel good about myself.

My primary reason for going to the crag is to smoke blunts and hit on the hotties( I dont get drunk) I mean whats better thatn blazing one down, trying to get a girl on your lap and trying to send one of those overhanging crimp feasts. If I had any goal in climbing I would be to just get on classic lines, and be able to do them. SOmthing about looking at a route like say Orange juce, seeing the holds and visulizing the moves, just kicks ass. There is also somthing to be said for boulder probloms as well. lines like david and golith, Jungle book, Onyx, the Hulk, Sigon.... all of those speak to people and like I said that kicks ass.
