Climbing in small groups would be ideal except that with our (me and Jared) climbing habits - ie: alpine start and climb til sundown - it's hard to find people who do not see weekends as a time to sleep in/take it easy.

Does bouldering count? I think I've finally broke even between bouldering solo and bouldering with a partner.

The worst is to go climbing with unmovitated people that would rather sleep in, take long breaks, and quit early. I can't fucking stand it and I prefer to avoid these kind of climbing partners.

Ill take a small group any day. I have had some prety embarising trips down to the red. I WAS one of the chicago group, and they like to come down in a large group. There have been times that people from my gym will all cordinate with each other so EVERYONE goes down at the same time ( sometimes groups as large as 20+) There were times that this large group would then all go cragging togeather. It only took a few times and then I started to get embarised. I started coming down with a partner(Hashplant5) and it got better. Now, Im anti crowds. I think I said this once befor but, Im the guy you see running away from the crag when people show up. Its not that I dont like you, its just an impact thing. ( I pick up my cigerett butts) not only that, but I get told to schoo, People just dont like me ( and my smoking) Oh well.... :(

Ps. ( sorry if my Gym as ever taken over a crag) :(

The first time I met Danny, we were at Long Wall and he comes around the corner from the Big Country end. He had been out climbing by himself. I guess it was a silent partner he was using.
I was pretty impressed, esp. since we all know he loves to take 40' whippers on gear!

Oh, on topic, I've had good times with just me and T, with small groups, and even larger groups where it's not planned, but you run into a bunch of people you know at the crag.
I never plan to posse climb, 'cause I think it is really un-cool, while sometimes it seems as though everyone doing it seems to think it makes them really cool.

Whenever I've ended up in a big group I've had a good time. But I've never planned on climbing with a big group. It just happens that everyone is going to the same crag. Or that Di is along and that attracts six other people. :) How many did we end up with last winter at Fortress? Must've been 10 at least. It was snowing on us and we had ropes everywhere. But sometimes it's good to just go out as a pair and hammer routes. I dunno. I'm not a "real climber" anyway so anything I say can and will be ignored.

Aww, thanks, Alan. That was a nice thing to say. I think I laughed more and harder that day at Fortress than ever. Well, okay, I was laughing pretty hard Saturday when we flailed on that featureless 11 :P. You know, I have fun no matter how many are along. It's just damn fun to climb with good friends! :D
