I have run off and on for years. I've completed a total of 40 marathons with a pr of 3:18 on the columbus course a few years back. I wouldn't believe a damn thing runners world publishes. I read an article in it once that said something like if you ran x amount of miles per week it would influence the gender of your future children, lol, no shit! I cancelled my subscription after that one. Never believe anything you read about running and only half of what you hear. Jus' run - throw away the watch, get some time on your feet, mix in some hills and lots of scenery, music is good but watch out for traffic (Freebird by Lynard Skynard makes a good pace for some reason) and breathe - slow and deep (i've got asthma so that one's important for folks like me). I lost motivation to run several years ago and have struggled to gain it back - love to do it, jus dont make myself get out there enough. I bike more than i run now but loose less weight biking for three hours than i did running 1 hour.

Thanks for the info everyone. I should've told you that I'm already a running addict and am in training for some races ranging from 8-13 miles for this Spring. I was curious because I never lose weight from running, but I never gain it either. I've gone through periods of running 4 miles really fast to running 1-2 hours at a comfortable pace. Maybe it's the chocolate consumption?? Maybe I hit the point where I can't lose any more unless I follow Sandy's advice.
Kev, that PR is awesome!

Thanks Meadows - I was running about 50 to 70 miles a week then - every sunday was a long run around 18 to 20. Loved it - my thinking was crystal clear then. Had a bad time on the last smoky mtn marathon about 3 or 4 years ago and stopped running. I still love it but my pace is awfully slow now - went out last week and did 8 mi of hills almost off the couch though there's still a runner in here somewhere :)

50-70 miles? Good thing you're not a woman (referring to a thread I'd rather forget). 8 miles is good, very good.

Aww comon Meadows...that was a great thread!

KD is all talk...never saw him run a day in his life. :|
No really...he's in better shape than I'll ever be in. Smokes me on the approaches. I hate that guy.

That's it! I've been looking for my motivation to resume running! I guess this thread is it. 50-70 miles! I'm ashamed. I used to run every day; now I sit on my fat ass. Gonna run again! I really miss my running highs!

Meadows, I've been where you are......never gain, never lose. Enjoy while it lasts, Honey. You look great! Throw a couple of kids in the mix, and turn 40/50......gaining is no problem!

Yay Dipsi!! Go girl! If it helps your motivation, I am running the half pig in Cincy in May...you are welcome to join!

Working on da foot. Rough terrain hurts...my arch is still really bruised.
