As for the drive from Chicago, going through L-ville and Cin are are the same to the Red. Indy is also an option, but it would mean that your daughter would be stuck in the car with you for about two extra hours each way.

But going through L-ville avoids Ohio. I'm a little upset with Ohio at the moment.

Cincy is one of the most expensive airports in the US. Granted, they recently have cut down on some of their prices but I would never say it was cheap.

they typically have good deals on flights and they do fly into lousiville.

I have to disagree. I fly through Cincy most of the time and the client I work for is based out of Cincy. If you fly Delta, the rates are cheap. Which is why they are the preferred carrier for businessmen (although I prefer USAir).

Also, flyi is based out of DC and is currently only serving the east coast. They don't have any planes flying out of Cincy, Lexington, or Oakland as of yet. They do fly into L-ville, but do not depart from CA.

Cincy is WAY more expensive to fly from because they are a hub. Flying in doesn't incur the same prices though.

I fly Delta alot, and I've saved 300.00 by driving to Dayton, then flying into Cincy for a short layover and leaving Cincy on the same plane that was 300 more if boarding directly....

It is not a cost issue, it is a convienence issue. I am using AA miles so I will not be paying for the ticket. AA does not fly to Lex.

By northern KY you mean south Cincinnati....

I'd try all that you could to fly through Lexington, it is by far the best of the three airports for easy in and out, price, and overall experience. Problem is the number of flights are somewhat limited.
FYI: if you fly Cincy to Lex you run the risk of there not being enough people on the plane and they'll cancel the flight and send you to Lexington in a taxi or van. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it can be a real pain. Weather can also cause this problem.
