From Ryan:

The visitation will be Wednesday, from 4:00 - 8:00 at Millilard Funeral home on Southland.

Tina would also like to have a memorial at the red as well, maybe this coming weekend.

Anyone that would like to help out should maybe get in touch with Ryan or me.

A sad day for the the Red River Gorge and the climbing community at large. John will be missed in so many I can't even begin to count. Thoughts, prayers and positive vibes to his family, Ryan, and the entire Red climbing community. We've lost a really great guy.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

The loss of Johnny is not only a huge loss for the Red, RRGCC and the climbing community, but the world itself. Johnny was an amazing person, and I feel blessed that I got to know him. My heart and thoughts go to his family and friends....

This is so sad. I first met John this spring through my law practice, and my fiance and I just met John and his family at trail day. He will certainly be missed.
I'm an experienced woman; I've been around... well, alright, I might not've been around, but I've been... nearby.

I just recently met John and Tina and enjoyed both of them. I heard the news this morning on my way to climb and it just set a sad tone on the day. My thoughts are with his family and his friends. I hope they find the "peace that passes understanding."

Oh my god! This is unbelieveable. John was so young and strong. It just doesn't seem fair. He seemed so healthy at the trail day. There will be a noticable void in our community without John. He put more enegry into writing, trail fixing, route setting, and everthing else that anyone. Our condolences to his wife and family.

Rarely have I ever met (in the Red or elsewhere) a person who is so happy with life it's infectious. I'm glad of the times I've had to chat and climb with John. I called my friend at the Herald-Leader and they are interested in doing a story on his life etc. The obituary should be in tomorrow's paper.
