Yeah, congrats to Yasmeen and Wes for sending the hike out of Muir. I think did it in record time, but I yelled "take" a couple of times.

Yeah, use of long slings is a must if you're going to link the pitches. I did this thing when I was still a trad novice, felt like I was dragging a keg up the route with me.

Rick is planning on creating a parking lot at the bottom of Muir Valley. That hike is such a torturous toil on hot humid days, but it is still better than the top out on "Dog Days". :D

Can you imagine how firm one's fanny would be if one hiked out of there every day? 8)
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

Alas, I think I took a quick rest while you all were not looking, so I can't claim a clean send this time. But, damn, you hike fast. Like really, really fast. Next time, you can carry my gear as well as yours. Training weight and all

Oh, as for africa, it is a two star route at a one star crag. Arachnid and maybe dog days would be the only reason I would head back up there. Oh, and tower of power when/if I ever become a *hard person*.

Nope. Choss. Just because it is old school, sorta famous choss doesn't mean it still isn't choss. Arachnid is pretty cool, 3.5 stars out of 5. Africa is a 5.4 choss fest to a cool boulder problem. 2nd pitch is classic choss. Dog days is 3 stars out of 5 at best, and the rest of the popular routes up there would get 1-2 stars out of 5 if they were anywhere else in the red. I mean, just walk that front side and look at the choss and moss. Nope, none for me thanks...

I remember stellar days that started with soloing Caver's Route and having coffee on the top. Then we would rap off and go get on Arachnid and Africa. No crowds, no beta screaming matches, just good tradding!
