It will be interesting to see what happens with this area under LAC since it is now included in the Archaeological District that also covers the Geologic Area and the Clifty Wilderness. The overall designation of the Indian Creek drainage under the new Forest Plan is Habitat Diversity Emphasis. The next step in the LAC process will be to look at different "zones" and then determine what future conditions in that zone will be like. I highly doubt that "redneck party zone" will be considered as a desired future condition

I stopped a ranger the other day and asked her when 9 would be back open. She said at least months. Apparently there is serious structural damage to the road and it will take more than a little gravel to fix it up. Anyway, there are at least two back ways in to Indian Creek and Purple Valley. One way is to take 3339 down from 460, but goes over private property. it is the shortest, as it puts you right on top of purple valley. The other is from behind the job core building on 77 and looks like a little longer hike. Public property though.

You can't go way back, but you can sure hike it. I plan to try both next week and will keep you updated.

Loren,

Let me know if you find my American Flag Kreig chalkbag around the base of Into The Purple Valley.
By the time they fix the road, it will probably be a rotted clump of fabric  .
