you know, this is starting to piss me off.
I was at the red this weekend and heard that there was tons of people climbing at the arena and oil crack. There was no info from the RRGCC at Miguel's(where 90% of all climbers at the Red camp and eat) and I am sure there is no signs near the arena and oil crack explaining the access issue
So Fuck it..go climb there and let the RRGCC deal with the fucking problem!!
I would bet 10% of all the people that climb at the red check this site and rrgcc.org before heading out for the weekend

quoting article of 4/24/2004:
_______________________________________________________
All of the Pendergrass-Murray Preserve is now open to climbing. A second temporary parking area on the Preserve has been opened, at Sore Heel Hollow, off of Bald Rock Road (.2 miles past the Motherlode parking area on the right). Look for the signs. It is absolutely imperative that EVERYONE park in the DESIGNATED PARKING area ONLY and follow all posted rules and guidelines.
Be sure to park off of any gravel road and away from any pipes, oil wells, or all other oil production equipment, and always yield the right-of-way to any oil worker, or truck.
There is a message board located at the parking area where WAIVERS are available and should be signed. Do not park anywhere other than in designated areas. Climbers, and Preserve visitors, are being directed to use the centrally located parking area ONLY and are then free to walk to their final climbing destination.

So....reading carefully it says - Please park in the designated area only, then WALK to your climbing destination.
there you go..

from the EXACT same article, for those who care to read the ENTIRE story....why are you guys being dumb asses?
"The following climbing areas are completely owned by the RRGCC:
Drive-By
Bob Marley
Gallery
Get Away
Sollar Collector
Dark Side
Far Side
Gold Coast
Gun Sight/Notch
South Coast
The following climbing areas the RRGCC owns the top of the cliff and the cliff face underneath you would climb on but does NOT own the ground you would walk across to get to the cliff face, or would stand on.
Oil Crack
In Between
Arena
The RRGCC wants to acknowledge (again) everyone's excellent cooperation in climbing elsewhere while we worked through the legal and logistical issues to responsibly re-open the Pendergrass-Murray Recreational Preserve. THANKS!"

I am just so tired of the RRGCC's shitty ways of getting info out. I read the site and completey understand the situation. I have lots of down time at work to get on the internet and find these thing sout but most others don't.
Most just plan to go to the red, drive down to Miguels and then head out and climb where they want. If this info is not clearly posted at Miguels or at the parking area for Sore Heel Hollow then there is a problem.
and yep I am throwing in the towel

I was reading the entire story. I was simply asking a question, jerk. You don't have to be an ass about it.
So, why does the article say " ALL of the Pendergrass-Murray Preserve is now OPEN to climbing"
It's nice to know that RRGCC doesn't OWN the land we would stand on, but it doesn't say, DON'T STAND ON IT.

Oh sorry guys, I thought Reserved Seating was part of the In Between area, my bad but as for the Damian on Skin Flute being from "March of '03", check the dates again. I believe it says "Fall of '03" and was posted in April of '04. It does look "springy" though.
I didn't post those pics to stir stuff up, I posted them to see just exactly who (outside of our little community here) knew and "didn't know" about the RRGCC's request that people stay off the property until the whole land dispute could be resolved. Just like Rhunt said, he hears people at Miguel's all the time talking about climbing at the Arena and OC.

Rhunt,
Amen.
What do you think?
So, if you say there is no climbing there, then I won't go and will respect the area, until we can use it with permission.

Someone asked about climbing at these areas on the RRGCC.org site and Terry answered it with. "I say use your own judgement and remember to park in the designated lot down from the Motherlode."
I read this to say that you can climb there but if you see an oil worker....RUN!
Really though, who the hell wants to park at the Motherlode and hike into those crags???
