The Karn bros. got their start in Clifton Gorge as did John Markwell & Bob Livingston, founders of The Gendarme @ Seneca. Colorado Mountain Industries (CMI), developer of the forged 8-ring, was originally located in Cincinnati. In upcoming issues of the OCA newsletter, I plan to start a "where are they now" column about top Buckeye climbers.

Just a reminder that the Ohio Climbers Association Annual Meeting is coming up this Saturday, May 22, 2004. After climbing at Vertical Adventures from 12:00 noon - 3:30 pm we will be moving across the street to Conti's Restaurant and Pub for our meeting and program with Tom Souders presentation about his Cho Oyu trip. If you are planning to attend, it is asked that you please post or send me a PM so that I can give Conti's a preliminary head count. Also if you are current dues paying member of the OCA your registration will only be $5.00. If you are a renewing member or are new to the organization, your $15.00 registration will include a one year OCA membership. If you know any other Ohio climbers not on this bbs that are interested in supporting access or would just like to meet some fellow Buckeye climbers and have a good time, please encourage them to attend our event on Saturday.

Is anyone from Cincinnati planning on attending Tom Souders slide show in Cols. tomorrow? Tom is looking to car pool with someone mid-afternoon. I am going up earlier to set-up our registration for the climbing contest. If you would like to ride up w/Tom leave a message on my voice mail 1-888-804-1439 & I will call back with Tom's home No. BTW we have $500+ of schwag so escape the heat/humidity and come to our contest @ Vertical Adventures @ noon.
