Hopefully I am wrong about that. Of course every little decision can't be put out for vote - that would be nuts - but I think this was a good example since it is the members who will be using the website and thered.org blew chunks if you wanted to find shit quickly.
And yeah, Flash sucks, too.
duh, I feel like an ass (no difference really)!

As much as I hate flash as the next guy the next time you see vic and he has is computer with him harass him to show you the new site. Yes it is flash and it appeared very easy to navigate. Load times I don't know about since it was already on his machine. And when I talked to vic about thered.org the reasons that he gave for it sucking major bandwith was that a lot of things were thrown on there near the end that weren't planned on being there.
On topic, do as I say not as we do ain't a way to run a business.

Th rrgcc has had their rules and im damn sure that they havent litsened to the (at least the higer powered members). They have been telling us to stay out for the time while Terry Kindrige and Shanno Stewart Smith have been 'looking at old maps and trying to make new ones' (or using the SR as thier own personal playground while no one else is alowed to be there. Also for all those climbers who have never heard of the rrgcc (yes there are a lot of them), they dont know that any of the climbing is closed. On my past several trips down there i have talked to several climbers from this part of the country who had plans to climb at closed crags and didnt even know they were closed. (even pocket wall, altj\hough its not related to the MP).

Yeah, I for one know the 'higher powered members' have been back there building bridges, making trails, and posting signs.
Own personal playground for sure.

I don't know what is happening back there 24/7, but, if you were back there doing something useful, then I don't think it would be a bad thing to spend some time climbing. I mean, how many hours of climbing time has been spent by people working on this already?
I don't think anyone views it a their own playground at all. In fact, they seem to go through an awful lot of trouble to make it so others can climb, often at their expense.
It will be intresting to see who climbs back there once it is open again. I wonder how many of the super negitive people will show up? Or those that haven't helped at all. They will be glad to climb the routes, use the trails and parking. And will still probably talk crap. That is just human nature.

If they are back there busting ass and getting in a few routes for their efforts, it's not unreasonable at all. How was Morgain (or anyone) to know what was going on, though? Also, why haven't they asked for help on these projects? Or have they? I'm sure there are at least a handful of climbers who would love to put in the hours of manual labor and get the reward of a route or several in the promised land at the end of a long day...
Also, this stuff would get done a whole lot faster.

I'm waiting for the call for help in trail management, building parking areas, etc. Sitting behind a computer all day gets boring after a while. Some manual labor is good for the body.

good points sandy...
it all boils down once again to the coalition's failure to communicate to its members. i know so many people just itching to climb there again and who would be quite happy to put up time and effort back there to get things ready for the offical opening.

It's going to happen and I don't think a little patience is too much to ask. Also, for all the times these people are busting ass back there (3 or 4 times a week in some cases) do you think it would actually be easier to organize and post flyers for some help? If you don't know you're gonna get free til the afternoon and can drive down to work on a trail or post some signs, why should you spam all the boards and organize a volunteer outing?
It's a classic case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Really I couldn't care less what most of the chuffers think but clueless comments like those from Eagledude just bug me. Those routes aren't free and those trails just don't pop up without some (largely unappreciated) effort. Right now it ain't a playground for these people, but because of their efforts it will be for everyone soon.
