Inflated Grades
I'll write a letter to Tampax for you Ray to get you sponsored...I hear Maybelline Cosmetics and Dr. Dean's Hip Replacment Surgery Center are also taking apps...
From what limited experience i have at the Red, I'd say any 12a in the book or sprayed about by a local is in reality 11d tops...I'm sure it is the same with 13a.....

If you see grades in the online guide that have been "bumped up", it is more than likely a mistake on my part. I challenge anyone to create a guidebook and obtain the original ratings with absolutely no mistakes from the original FA.Horatio Felacio wrote:just browse through john bronaugh's guidebook and parts of the online guidebook. most sport routes have been bumped up at least a letter grade. why did this happen?
In defense of John, I'm sure he ran into the same problems. Imagine trying to obtain a list of thousands of routes and getting each grade exactly correct as the FA rated it.
You're an armchair quarterback Nasty!

yeah so what? so i like milk toast and pud whacking with cheese. what's it to ya. i am a quarterback too.
i'm sure it's not easy to go from scratch. all i'm talking about is comparing porters red river select guide to johns. look through em both and you'll see a consistent inflation of grades by a letter grade. there's a few downgrades too.
maybe i'm wrong, but it looked like you just took a large part of johns info. it looks like that's where your bumped up grades came from. the online guidebook is cool though, cause you can change shit on it. like harvest and flux to name a few.

I did downgrade some routes in the beginning but I think I changed them back after going through some evolution and realizing that the safest thing to do is just to leave it at what the original FA gave it unless it is 2 grades off (John's recommendation).
I guarantee you won't find one route in the Red that everyone agrees on the rating. It seems to be completely impossible due to everyone having different sized hands, longer arms, shorter legs, bigger heads, longer fingernails.....
I don't think the perfectly graded route exists in this world. Not until we're all cloned to be the same person.
