Who ever sends it first gets to name it dude..and they are the one in guide book. The person who equips the climb gets first dibs though and once they send it they name it, or if they can't seem to get the job done and/or abandon it...take the red tag off the first hanger ...it is now an open proj. and the FA gets all the credit. Unless of course they get the FA and then let the equipper name the thing out of the kindness of their heart.

I don't think anyone has done the arete at Bob Marley. Does anyone even know who bolted it? After the 4th bolt, I could only pull a handfull of moves till I got near the anchors. Super thin. It looks like a Ho Flo route if I have ever seen one, but I don't think he bolted it.
The original dog leg has definately been done.

If i remember right some guy from TN bolted the arete at BM wall. And the route left of Take That, Ramsey bolted years ago, and he told me that Dave broke a hold on it and there is a super hard boulder problem on it. There is also a few routes at the gold coast.

Wow, the kindness of his heart. Now that's a concept! The person that created the route ( you know, the one that does all the actual work and spends their own time and money creating something for others to enjoy) doesn't get to name their own creation. If I fucked you wife before you did do I get to name the children that you fathered?

BR (unfortunately) renamed CM's "Ice Cream Man" when he got the FFA... obviously "Omaha Beach." But as P2U said, certainly his prerogative.

From my experience, it seems that when someone puts up a route with hardware or is working a route (i.e. a trad line) then they name it just to have something to call it while they're working it. But then when it gets sent the FA names it (renames it) whatever they want. I don't think there's anything wrong with this. It's just a way to communicate about a route.

I absolutely do NOT have anything against BR. We used to climb some together. I just really liked the name "Ice Cream Man." Old Eddie Murphy...
