Yea, I probably have to agree with Wes. Especially with such a steep route. If someone got in over their head and really did have to bail then they may have had a hard time retrieving the draws. I wouldn't take them but I can see how someone else could see them as booty.

Just kidding man... that's just rude to take someone else's gear. 1pc = booty. Any more and it's either a project or someone had to bail real quick (injury, storm) and the gear should be left there or brought to Miguel's...

Or they just thought that they would take off and pay you later for the draws.

i just felt like doing some other climbing that day and lowered, cleaning the lower half.
trad gear is different there aren't bolts to lower from. unless you leave a note stating you are working a trad climb, i think it is booty.
sport is an entirely different matter, there are bolts and you can leave biners.
i cleaned the lower half so that no one would take them and because it is traveled so frequently.
if you know who took my draws for the love of climbing return them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you keep them i hope you are cursed to a life of bad karma and hopefully many more lives!

So, they were booty? You didn't finish the route, cleaned part of it, and left? That sounds like textbook booty to me.

no, i left them up so i didn't have to reclip them when i came back. i cleaned draws that would be in the way. im glad i cleaned some of them or i wouldn't have enough draws to climb anythiing!

so you're saying that if you leave all your draws except the anchors, lower, climb another climb, leave, come back the next week. all the gear is booty?

You couldn't / didn't finish the route, right? After not finishing the route, you lowered and cleaned some draws, but left some, right? I am saying that sounds like some one bailing from a route, and would look like booty to someone who didn't know what was going on. I probably would have taken them if I saw that kind of set up.

Just remember, you were super eager to score the gear on that trad route, even though it was a project.

if i remember correctly it wasn't a project, some dude SKETCHED and BAILED. i wasn't gung ho on cleaning it. i said id go with he who shall not be named and climb it for him to get a piece of the action. im not looking to start an ethics arguement, just trying to get my draws back.

It was a project, the gear went all the way through the hard part. What I am trying to help you see, is that things can look different when you are on the other side of them. Your draws looked like booty. Someone took it. I hope you get it back, but if you do, you owe them at least dinner and a 6 pack.
