If you happen to run a small company (e.g. 2 or 3 employees), you are considered "rich", and are taxed accordingly. I can tell you that some small companies give out Christmas bonuses anyway.

The company I work for hasn't given bonuses for a few years. The CEO at one point was getting 50 million dollar bonuses for himself. Must be nice.
By small I mean only about 75 employees. And this is the owner's SECOND jet. He got tired of the Lear and bought a Hawker because it's got a stand up bathroom.

Why the whining? I'm sure that the owner isn't just some MBA-idiot! I'm sure that he's a brilliant PhD metalurgist, and personally developped the alloys that your company uses in its products. I'm sure that he puts in long hours in the lab and is constantly down on the plant floor monitoring quality and refining the manufacturing process to make it radically more efficient. Plus I'm sure that he personally rolled his own Linux kernel, thus replacing all Microsoft products in the company, saving millions. And, hey, think of all the all-nighters he put in when half the administrative support department got the flu, and he stepped up to take on the typing duties to keep the company rolling! One teeny, tiny (bigger, newer) corporate jet isn't so much to ask. Is it?

The owner didn't develop anything. He just bought the company. I think he maybe has a BS/BA degree. He works maybe 3 days a week. And all he does is hold meetings that waste the rest of our time.

I spent an hour today that I was supposed to be working updating my resume.

I got a nice bonus last year but since our company has dissolved into non-profit the bonuses have become sort of like a contest. Whoever the manager decides performed the best throughout the year gets a bonus. It's pretty gay and great reason to leave at 5:00 when you're competing with Indian and Chinese programmers who work until midnight every night!

Do any of you as stock holders ever try voicing (sp?) an issue you may have with admin. excess or check into wage and sallaries of the little guys? I know as an employee/stock holder it would maybe seem suicidal, but other than that scenario would you?

dhoyne----- I am definately not gonna buy any golf clubs, plane,or helicopter this year because of this  did you at least get an "ataboy"?
