I have a Mountian Hardware knockoff from Target and it works like a dream. It looks like the Trango 3, which really impresses people from a distance.

I think the dude asked what you all thought of Sierra Designs and Marmots, not what you have.
I don't know about Sierra Designs, but Marmot makes some quality stuff.

I have a SD clip flashlight tent. It's bomber. They make quality tents, but their sleeping bags aren't the best. I'd love a single wall (Bibler or Integral Designs) tent, but I don't camp in the snow so can't justify the expense.

NOw i do have a SD sleeping bag, I got the men's actually for more shoulder room. I love it!
I have back packed with a walmart tent stretched out across my pack, no big deal. People are too caught up in the numbers. Whats a little more weight, a little more exercise that's all. You get used to it.

I have had a SD meteor light for about six yrs.I have only used a little, The vestibule along the side is too small, the tent is easy to set up though which I normally do solo without issue, I would not steer anyone away from them. Have a wonderful day.

Meadows, thanks for looking out for me. i am more concerned about the SD's and marmot's but i'm interested in anything. with the SD's i get a prodeal, which is why i'm curious about them. sierratradingpost.com and campmor.com often have deals on marmot's and i've heard they're pretty awesome (if a bit pricy) and that's why i'm curious about those. all of it's good stuff, though, whatever you guys have to say, i'd like to hear it.
i hate how official i sound on these things. i'm going to make a concerted effort to be stranger.

i have an EMS northstar which is modeled after one of the northface tents. it is a two man. what i love about it is that it has dual doors and vestibules, so no climbing over the other person or if you are solo you can keep your stuff in one vestibule and get out on the other side. plus it is mostly mesh with a great three season fly so hardly any condensation to worry about.

I've got the SD Orion AST. One of my friends has that one as well and ertbaby has the 3 persion version of the same tent. It's really solid and I think the advantages gained from the extra pole and all are worth the small sacrifice in weight (it's still well under six pounds). I've used and have friends who use the Clip Flashlight CD and it's really nice. My buddy Tim was impressed that the tent held up better than his head did to a bear attack in Rocky Mountain National Park earlier this year (he and his buddy were the first people in over 30 years to get mauled in the park). The only drawback to it is that it isn't freestanding, but it's definitely more durable than other freestanding tents that weigh the same.
Bibler are way expensive and are only worth getting for serious 4-season use or if you have a lot of money sitting around. Check the Black Diamond catalog for info on them.
Mountain Hardwear and MSR also both make excellent tents in and around the same price range as SD and Marmot (btw, the Marmot tents are nice, but they tend to a run a bit heavier than what the other companies make). The PCT 2 by MH is similar to but nicer than the SD Clip Flashlight and doesn't cost too much more, and MSR has some bomber tents along the same lines.
For strict car camping, at least get a Eureka. It'll hold up better than anything by Coleman or any of the other cheapo tents for not a lot more money than them.
