Is there any more news about the accident this past weekend? The last I heard he was at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. :?:

I too am wondering about the details of this accident. What actually happenned? Is this person OK? You would think that this information would have gotten out through the grapevine. Has anyone heard anything?

I have a wierd feeling he could have been on Horny Bitch. There was a lot of vegetation removed and the pro fo the first 20 or 30 feet is really sketchy.Likely spot to unzip. The best spot to belay from is downhill from the base, wich doesn't help. Slinging the rodo will stop a zipper.
Someone had been digging in the moss with thier shoes at the start, not a good thing to have mud on your shoes.
It just appeared funky.

Still haven't heard anything about the ax.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Just talked to a buddy last night that got the story from another guy we know who was there......second, second hand so consider this hearsay.

It was Bombs Bursting. He apparently got through the first half and then ran it out through the pumpy part to just under the roof. Took a fall from there but with rope stretch and run - out factor he decked. Broken hip and back from what our bud knew. He came around just as the FS was carrying him out on the one wheel stretcher and then cleaned the route for them. He said he cleaned 7 pieces (all really new) but nothing had pulled. Word was it was just a big runout which led to a big fall to the deck.

Bummer, hope he's healing safely.

Yeah, it definately has some pretty technical gear placement! I went right after the roof hoping to find a decent placement but found nothing in the corner. It was a shocker! Mia, who was belaying me reassured me that I wasn't gonna hit the ground if I fell (my depth perception is way off on lead :? ) - it would have been a big one though!

I hope for a quick and full recovery for the guy!!

Thanks for the update, hope the guy has a smooth recovery.

I'm thinking it would have been a big fall from under that roof. I don't remember it being too pumpy under the roof, just a rough handcrack in a corner. I went left, popped in a small cam under the roof and pulled it on the left side. Nothing but choss going to the main ledge. Big thanks to hamsco (was that you?) for new anchors up there (haven't seen them up close, but heard about them).
