Hi everyone, I am halfway there. so far I have stuck to my weekly schedule too.

Week 4: Joe’s Valley, UT

Joe’s Valley was home to both some of the best bouldering I have done and some of the weirdest weather I have ever seen. It would change from 70 and sunny to freezing and snowing in a single hour. Then an hour later it was warm and sunny again. The remote nature of the area and the excellent rock made for a great destination. I am totally excited to get back there and find more perfect sandstone problems.

Enjoy:

Next Week: Red Rocks, NV

Dang Merrick - I was just looking at your pics because I saw you online. The Joe's Valley pics made me drool!! I'm hoping to be stopping by there for a day or two in late March/early April. Thanks for the inspiration! Same goes for the Hueco pics.

it is totally worth it. joes was awesome! I couldn't believe how much i liked it there. if only the boulders were not as spaced out as much, but you can't have everything.

I will be there in late march or april as well. maybe we can hook up and climb. it seems like it has been years.

it has been far too long, Merrick. My dates are set, but the exact itinerary is not. The last week of March which runs into early April is when I will be back in Utah and Joe's is a priority so let's try to coordinate when the time gets nearer. YAY! If you are interested in hitting up IC with me, and perhaps another tower in Castle Valley, you are way more than welcome - I would love it!

nice pic's. Dissapointed with Hueco? Good god man are you sure you went to the same Hueco that I did? It's hard to imagine bouldering getting any better than that.

go to fontainebleau...

personally i would rank squamish, NC, and even bishop above hueco for a combination of the quality of the rock, quantity of the rock, density of the rock, scene in general, and ease of living.

but i am going to give hueco another chance this winter

Hueco rules for sure, but I still think G'Mom is my favorite bouldering spot. Bishop is nice for cheap dirtbagging, but I think the problems at Hueco are generally better. There is a ton of stuff here, but you have to kinda walk around a bit to explore. And for the number and varitity of roof and steep problems, you can't find a better place.

I would agree, hueco requires more work to find stuff and live and such. however i think i would have and will enjoy hueco when i'm a much stronger boulderer. there is a reason everyone raves about it, i'm just not strong enough to climb it yet.
excellent point mia....you are correct. ~ Pigsteak
