I was also thinking, it would really cool if everybody would come by my tent and bring me a bottle of Jack, and told me what they think of me.

He burns kerosene for heat so a couple gallons of that would be way better than beer. The price of it has gone up just like gasoline.Maybe a good used sleeping bag
for those cold winter nights. I let him talk me into a ride down the road one rainy morning and couldnt get away.

I was with J.H. when he picked them (and their 2 packs of beer) up a little past the beer trailer. I was kinda scared, but they were ok. Now I just feel sorry for them and try to be friendly whenever I see them. By them I mean the 2 old guys...which one is the mayor?
Mia has a good point. They probably don't really need beer. Stuff for the winter would be really nice, cause I'm sure they'll get cold...even though I guess the alcohol could keep 'em warm

Rodney (the Mayor) is a career alcoholic. You really wouldn't be doing him any favors by giving him anything to drink.
A few months ago he almost died because he was so drunk he didn't know he had accidentally shot himself.
The best way to help him would be by giving him food, clothes or some other essential household products. And I think the woman you may have seen around is his sister. It was her trailer that burned down (and half the hillside) back in the summer. One of them decided to burn garbage on the windiest day of the year. Rodney's chance of survival would be greatly increased if he had less alcohol and not more.

An alcoholic at his level of advance is not going to quit drinking. In fact, withdrawl alone could kill him. Giving him warm cloths and food is a nice gesture but giving him booze could keep him out of the dumpsters in his search for alcohol remnants, which is what he does and will continue to do, is one of the kindest things you could do for an alcoholic. This thread isn't meant to be a belittling, "Let's give the drunk some booze and laugh at him" kinda thread. He's a severe alcoholic and at this point he does need alcohol to keep going.
