Bolting on Army Corps of Engineers land?
While I am not a fan of hour-long approaches, I am more and more realizing that lots more developement will be critical as the number of users at the Red increases. Slap in them bolts, elves, chains and whatnot! Also, the opportunity to frolic with fairies may just counteract the undesireableness of the hour-long approach in the popularity department - nice touch!SCIN wrote:Cool. Thanks Tim. The area I'm wondering about is Jailhouse Rock. People have been climbing on that land for years with no problems from them. If they say it's okay to bolt, then I'm going to create a magical paradise complete with fairies, elves, and hard to get to sport lines.
(Plus, better route names are called for with those new lines of yours - perhaps more in the vein of 'women in prison' films? "Caged Heat"? "Slammer Girls"? "Angels in Chains"? Hmmmm?)
Ray- Drop a line off the back side of the top approx. 1/8 mi toward the road (from the jail house rock itself). Biggest ampatheater I've seen, plus a pair of 140' unclimbed, hard, but a little chossy cracks. And a 40' that looks about 5.11.
I think there are about 5 decent trad lines off that side. Lots of potential for sport climbing(heavy cleaning).
Also- look closely at topo maps to the east of slade and you will find a back way in- hike will only take 20 minutes.

So "Hey Dude Man, I want to slap some bolts and shit on the rock, enjoy looking at the fairies and elves, and do some mad climbing, hombre. You down with that?" won't work?Jeff wrote:Colonels are used to being called "Sir" too SCIN.
They like that respect stuff. Maybe it will help with your letter to him.
