Hawks Nest is pretty sweet this time of year. You also might try some of the boulders in summersville lake if your up that way. Though no topo as much of this area is under water most of the year

I appreciate the effort people, really, but what how does any of this help me with bouldering at Red River Gorge? At least now I know I'm not supposed to pull off the vegetation....

There ain't no bouldering at the Red, total urban myth! There are a couple of areas to go to, if you like roofs, drop offs, etc. To truely boulder, one must go to a more concentrated area so there is more option to work, such has in North Carolina, Tenn., Georgia, FRANCE. The Red is pure trad & sport!

what that article says, is that we are not allowed to talk about bouldering at the red in a public forum. please re-read the article until you understand the access issues at hand.

Ryan,
Like most govermental issues, Thay will address bouldering as soon as they figure out how to remove their own pesky heads from their anuses.
Where as traditional and sport climbing have anchors and equipment that can scare and change the rock bouldering falls in a gray area. With out chalk as a factor what impact does a bouldering climber leave? They cannot make a rule that any vistor must keep their hands off any tree, plant or rock. What sense would that make? So go boulder and find some peace and quiet. Just don't post or spray about it.
It's another of those "Don't Ask & Don't Tell" goverment things.

I don't know of any bouldering, but maybe if we go hiking down this ??? road and turn ???? down ???? trail we shall find some nice boulders that will have some shade for our pinic.
