I thought Tunnel Route was open in the winter. I was on it two years ago in November and it was easy and fun. The end has a short chimney which ends at the overlook footbridge which may require stemming though.

I was on that route (Tunnel Route) right about the same time. It looked like no one had been on it for years. We were a 3-some and had such a great time on that route. We laughed and laughed the whole way up. It was so nice to be away from the crowd. It was in fact the first route I ever did at the Red.

A couple of years ago the FS asked that folks not climb at Chimney Top. It was printed somewhere on a flyer, website...something. Now I can't find anywhere I look..anyone know where that closure was put in writing?
