I'd trust WT's opinion over mine. I am a gumby he won.
You can lead Calypso III with a set of stoppers and a set of hexes (up to #11). I do so with much comfort. Add a #3 camalot to the mix and you get an ultra safe lead.
Calypso III was my second lead (trad or sport) ever.
