If you don't vote, and someone else votes a route 2 stars, then your imput isn't heard. Since there is no way to add a zero rating, the next worst is 1 star. Maybe add a .1, then you could use that instead of 0.

I kinda think there shouldn't be very many 5 star routes, and thus, it should be reserved for the very best route of the grade and/or style of climbing.

Actually, I changed it. If you vote without checking a number then a 0 will be recorded. This will negate the total rating because of the following:
Total Rating = SumOfStars / SumOfVotes

So if two people vote and one votes a 5 while the other votes a 0 then the total rating will be:
TotalRating = 5/2 = 2.5

Nice work, Ray! At the risk of you accusing me (again) of pressuring you to put out (work that is), could you add a selection for Zero so that it's clear to everyone there is an option to vote that way even if they have not caught this thread?

Not sure. Maybe I'll just have two ratings.

The option to pick "0" *'s makes it a little strange because now 3 isn't in the middle of the scale. 2.5 is now the middle implying that the "average route" at the Red would have 2.5 *'s. Now a 3 is an above average route, kinda throws things off for me. Now you have a "6 * scale".

Makes voting a little more :?
What do you think?

Damn.
I think I agree with you Power2U. That's how I had it in the first place.

Okay. I changed it back.
Now it is not possible to give something a "0". If you feel it deserves 0 stars then just don't give it any stars. I think this makes the most sense.
