Parking in the Southern Region

There's a gate that hasn't been locked in awhile. Its a pain in the ass to open and close a gate every time you go on your rounds checking wells as an oil worker. If these douche bags think they can park next to the crag, first the gates will close, then we will have access issues. Word.
I've seen it too. I guess if you climb hard and have a wife and small child, you ate entitled to drive up, drop off, and then drive back down. Also saw someone drive up (to Drive By) at end of day to pick up the brahs for a ride out.
Pretty rugged hike downhill you know.

ok nevermind. but if using the road as an intermittent convenience is cool why not allow it? either we can work with the oil guys or not. is there some legal reasoning that says the land owners are pre epmpted from accessing their land because of a limited surface rights agreement? and btw, when is that set to expire?
what access do climbers need for the closed pmrp crags? top down, bottom up? what 'concerns' of the oil company are being met that climber's access would compromise?

As far as access goes - Just look at all the potential for new miles of cliffline that can be developed in the future, I mean the possibilities are endless. There are potentially thousands of new routes that are yet to even be discovered and the potential is for even more. Look ahead to the future.

I think the access should be there, it came very handy when I broke my ankle on Tika, my husband was able to drive up to pick me up while a couple of super nice climber carried me to the car. Access for emergencies yes, parking no. My two cents.

There are a couple reasons we shouldn't drive up there.

1. blocking the oil rigs will piss people off pretty quick. even if we don't block the actual rig, if the trucks can't maneuver b/c of cars up there people are going to get grumpy.

2. the other thing is climbers don't pay to maintain the road up to the cliff and climbers driving up there causes damage.

maybe if the RRGCC decide it was worth the money to maintain the road and build parking lots they could do it but they have much better things to spend money on

i'm only fighting for transparency of policy and the facts that establish them, i'd prefer motorized vehicle use be highly circumscribed.

If we would just focus on the future and the positive, think of all of the uncircumcised areas we could circumcise. There is endless potential there to be developed. The option is always open for closed circumcisions to negotiate, however, we need to think of the future and be positive.
