The zoo has been empty all three times I've been there in the last month. I guess that "treacherous" hike scarred everybody off after a light drizzle.

You can no longer us Miguels parking lot as a gauge. At least 50% of cars there are for the party.
I feel for the tourist crowd that has recently been hitting Migs. They are in for a surprise.

The party... I am so glad I don't stay there anymore. I am old.

Drive-by and Bob Marley were empty on sunday, except for one other party of 2. Pretty amazing since last fall it was too busy to climb there on the weekends.

I thought that was redundant considering I said was old. But yep, we can throw in fat too.
Well, might as go for the trifecta...
Old, Fat, and Happy.

Doesn't it normally get crowded during and after rocktoberfest? Not so much before?

There is no reason to come to the Red with Roadside closed.

The number of climbers is up significantly at Muir this year over past years. There were several weekends in the spring and early summer with 70 to 80 cars per day, and a record of 110 cars on one Saturday. The main parking lot holds about 40 cars, and the new upper lot, 30. Weekend before last and last Sunday saw them overflowing, so the fall crowds are beginning - at least here. I'll bet we see another 100-car day during Rocktoberfest. We've statistically sampled the number of visitors numerous times and it always comes up about 3.5 per vehicle.
The restrooms at the parking lot see enormous usage. That, coupled with the absence of dog feces has reduced the negative impact on the land significantly.
I'm guessin' that the hordes will soon start arriving in at least the same numbers as previous years.
