By the way - I'm kind of scratching my head here about the fundraising thing. If I remember correctly, the first payment that's due this fall is in the range of US$60k. But between the route auction ($5k?) the gym fundraisers ($3k?) and the gear sale ($?), it seems that things are a bit short. What's up? I don't sense the panic that a 80% gap would seem to justify.

Where is the event going to take place for sure? When is the event going to take place for sure? How much is the entry fee? What is the contest? bouldering or sport or both? I need to have these questions answered please.

I just got done making a flier for the event, it took about 10 minutes. It is just something I can hang up in the gym that has the info about the event. If someone has Quark 5.0 I can send it to them via email. It would be cool if someone sent the flier to area gyms.

There is no panic, just a real NEED for climber's help.
We have NUMEROUS fund raisers coming up, and the route auction is not nearly done, AND we also rely on your tax-deductible donations.
Again, there is no need to panic, we feel great about the entire purchase, but we really DO NEED your efforts, help, and donations when possible - even a few bucks.

The GYM Series begins August 30 and will be held at Lexington Rocks, Rockquest in Cinci and Climbtime Indi. But if you want to participate and climb at the Red, there's always a way.
There have been some people who have offered to meet me halfway and raise money for the sponsorships but climb their 200 feet AT THE RED on Labor Day weekend. This is 100% right by me. THANKS YASMEEN.
The purpose of the fundraiser was to get people to climb while it's too hot to climb. If people are heading to the Red and still want to participate, GO FOR IT!!!!! We need the money. We'll totally accept any help and are flexible. Just let me know.

There ya go, Tom!

Gretchen;
I know the details, just commenting on the fact that I did not get the detail through the gym, rather I got it from the internet (specifically
www.redriverclimbing.com). Spragwa was asking why there was not much of a response, and I was subtly suggesting that perhaps some segments of the climbing community were unaware of the event. If you don't surf the internet, how will you know about it? Fliers? The last comp at our gym, we had a flyer hanging every three feet, including in the bathrooms, and everyone in the gym was walking around saying, hey when's the next comp? are we having another comp soon? There is one reliable way to get it across: engrave the event and date backwards on a 2x4 and then go around whacking people in the forehead with it (actually this might not work- they'll just come to and go around saying why is this date mashed into my forehead?).

Excellent!
I however disagree with you. We should smack 'em on the head... talking about a new means of marketing: FOREHEAD STAMPING ANYONE?

kato: Thanks for the feedback! All suggestions and constructive criticism is useful. Don't worry the next fundraisers of this nature will be PLASTERED everywhere. Do you rent the space on your forehead or do we just need to sign up and wait in line?
