Lurkist: he was not arrested with the guy that was caught for breaking into our place. It was just thought that he was there. I just know that he is out there again and wanted to let folks know. Sorry for the confusion.

The Lode was hit today, two cars with windows smashed. Guy and Gal from Minn, super nice couple. Other from KY, forester/subura.

So who was the guy that the cops arrested?

I live in my van. It is my home. If I shoot someone in the act of breaking into my home, am I still protected by the Castle Law???

if your van is on your private property or a place where you rent - I think you might be.

Hey all~ new here... The Red CRV is my vehicle actually~I think I know which couple you're referring to from MN~ and while they are very nice, thats my car I'm afraid. Happened sometime Sunday while we were at the Chocolate Factory. Took my purse which had my credit cards, approx $30 in cash, drivers license, my blackberry...my GPS, my IPod, the keys to my truck. The only thing they got out of the Subaru was a bottle of vodka...

Glad someone got a picture of it~ I didn't think to take one before I pulled the glass out of my window. Could have been worse, they did leave my marmot shell and reef sandals :) But it sucks that for the pennies they'll actually get for my stuff, its going to cost me a fair bit to replace it all... It was a downer on a great day of climbing. When it comes down to it, its still just stuff, and it could've been worse...

does anyone know if a car with an alarm has been broken into in the Southern Region? I don't live in the area anymore, but I never had an issue and I wonder if it was due to the alarm (with it's blinking red dash light) that made thieves decide to pass on mys car or if i just got lucky. if i was breaking into cars i'd avoid setting off an alarm and just break into cars without obvious alarms.

I always block the windows in my van so it can not be looked into. I then post a note on the front and back saying that I am watching this van from the woods through the scope of my rifle and dare them to touch it. May I am and maybe I'm not...The unknown is a powerful tool!

Left all the windows down in my shitty car while at the Lode yesterday for 5 hours and no issues. Kind of asking for it to bring a car with any valuables inside down Bald Fork Rd with the long history of break-ins down there.
