All those locals dumping trash must have stopped when RS closed. Quite remarkable coincidence!

really hard to believe?..you give humans too much credit...self interest and the easy way is always the norm. I will be looked at as the debbie downer, but human nature keeps proving me right over and over and over.
Yeah, I know... I guess I was trying to say it is believable but sad, especially since "we" climbers are much more environmentally conscience...

You guys are probably right. Local custom is more to burn trash or throw it off cliffs....although our dumpster is also quite popular. Some folks even ferment it for biofuel, which is awesome.

But if there is a trash can there someone will pick it up right, even if it is on the ground? Obviously, someone is providing a trash pickup service. They are making money off us so it's our right to throw trash by a full trash can. We'll show them to keep up with their duties. The mind of a shallow mind.

the easy way is to pile up trash in your car. trust me. i'm living this particular dream as we speak.

people dumping trash in yards (or at the top of obviously full trash cans) is just them being assholes.

Sad fact of life. At least keep a bag of your trash in the car and maybe empty it out at the Shell station waste cans or somewhere else suitable. It's a shame there isn't more recycling done in the surrounding counties with containers at most public rest areas and picnic pull outs on the roads throughout the Gorge area.

We recycle at Land of the Arches Campground. I don't want to provide a dump station for every dirtbag who comes down here, but I would rather have extra work to do on my "go to the dump day" than have everyone leaving their shit all over the gorge. The recycle bins are blue and marked next to the picnic shelter. The trash is behind it. Wolfe CO doesn't recycle glass, but #1 and 2 plastic, paper, and alm. cans they will take.

Eric,
We always take our plastic, paper, and glass etc back home with us to recycle. One day I noticed beer bottles piling up and took them to the beer store because they have two recycling cans out front - glass and aluminum - and that's where they came from anyhow.
Mr Chambers mentioned "taking them to the dump". I assumed he meant the dump in Lee Co down the road. Is there a container at the dump that gets taken care of properly?
I got the feeling they were just going to be "dumped", but now that I think about it, the "dump" isn't really active as far as dumping of trash anymore...?

Gentleman of the Cloud, Greetings.

I may go climbing this weekend in the Red Rover Region of Kentucky. Is it OK to advance?

If I make any Faux-Pas please advise at grand length on the intricacies of my failure.

I'll have free sparklers for anyone who can quote our Founding Fathers.
training is for people who care, i have a job.
