Really don't think there was that much more impact... I was first there and parked. I would have had to drive to exactly the same location, back up the same way, turn around the way and then drive out. My car sitting on side of road for 8 hours had no more impact on the situation.

props to Joshua Tree Dave & Rick Bost and crew for patching up the road with logs and rocks. It's not pretty and by no means permanent - but it did work well enough for most small cars. Hopefully the oil company will contact the county and get the road repaired correctly.

When we hiked out Sunday the rocks and sticks where so mushed down from the traffic that a lower car was going to bottom out. The mountain bike/ foot bridge route is the way to go.

Thanks for posting about this. The Cnty Road Supervisor will head down there tomorrow to take a look and get it fixed.

i know we do have an impact on roads but im pretty sure all that rain did most of the damage

As Phil said, this case was because of the rain. For awhile, Charmagne put time and money into helping with the roads and the RRGCC did help financially. So far, the county has developed a positive attitude toward climbers and I hope we continue that rapport. When I met up with Philz last fall when they were installing the helipad, I got to meet some people who worked for the County and I was told that "anytime" the road is bad, call.

Where do you park to use the foot bridge?
