You can also leave a quick link on your harness for such a situation. They only cost 25 cents.

I am old and haven't purchased one in many years. I typically use the other advice above and just always climb with someone stronger than me. I'll look into it though. Nevertheless, even if I was exaggerating, I am pretty sure a quick link costs less than a caribiner. Also, it wouldn't feel as bad to me to leave some piece of metal I bought at the hardware store as it would to leave a biner.
