Ok, just one more vote for get it checked out now. I have treated patients for costochondritis and it is a very painful condition that can take a long time to calm down. However, in none of the cases that I have seen has there been complaints of pain radiating to the neck and down the left arm. Angina with these other symptoms are a red flag that you possibly experienced some sort of cardiac distress. Please seek medical attention.

I plan on seeing a doctor this week for sure, however I'm 99% convinced this is not a heart issue after having done more research as well as isolating the pain to one specific place in my chest right on and between one of my upper ribs. The pain in my arm was more neck and shoulder tightness and since the first night I haven't really felt anything like that. I've learned that heat pads and hot showers seem to work really well to relax the area and the way I hold my shoulders especially when sitting seems to have both positive and negative effects on the things as well.

For anyone who has had or treated a similar chest injury do you have any information on what works best to heal not just treat the pain?

If you're over 35, go to the doctor. Otherwise your guess might be right, but I have no idea what to do for that.

I recently pulled my left pec and the pain radiated from deep within and I was pretty certain I was having a heart attack. It sucks knowing that going to the ER is probably a waste but you might die if you don't.

some girl I knew told me she had "a cute angina" and I told her she had nice tits too.

i'm left handed so that may make a difference, it works harder and is more likely to brace for impact. but, i've had an unsettling pain in my left chest that sounds similar. it's happened from repeated crashes on a snowboard, to swimming, to climbing. in retrospect it is muscular. i take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pills, standard, works.

i sure wouldn't throw around ideas of angina and ischemia without some qualifications, even if it is the internet. i wouldn't panic at this point, though.

it freaked me out a little too. but really, what are you going to do? get a stint and watch more tv?

I know this post is 2 years old, but if you see my reply by any chance.... how long did your costochondritis take to go away? I have had it for 3 weeks now and am starting to get antsy to go climbing again (and running, and lift weights, and to be able to pick things up.....)
