I saw this Timber on the Auxier Ridge trail about three years ago. Coolest snake encounter I've ever had!

I have usual places that I find copperheads in the different areas, a friend and I spend a few weekend herpin down there and found a bunch of cool shit. Just go down camp at miguels and walk the cliff lines around the climbing area.

I've seen rattlesnakes in high concentrations near and north of the River, particularly in the Spaas Creek Drainage. Copperheads are all over.
I've seen enough rattlesnakes in a day to give me poogly dreams for a month.

No but it was right in the middle of the trail on a crowded day, someone could have. I used a long stick to move it along and off the trail and that is when it coiled up and started rattling. Once I got it off the trail it moved pretty fast to get away from us.

I've seen one timber rattler since I starting coming to the Gorge in 74- saw a few I think they were called black tailed rattlers out in Arizona this summer- the Fred Garvin trouser pancer is the new hip species
