To my son Jason, serving in the United States Marine Corp, currently stationed in Okinawa. One tour in Afghanistan already.

I spent a little time last night looking for info about my uncle. He was in the 1st of the 9th marines - the were called the walking dead - and in Viet Nam had the highest causality rate in Marine core history. There is an after action write up pdf of the battle that he was killed in here - http://www.1stbattalion9thmarines.com/V ... _APR67.pdf on page 14 (May 14th). It reads like a war movie script, only with real lives.

Not always a fan of the gov't and some of the wars/situations they have gotten into, but the people on the ground deserve our full respect.

Not to lighten the topic too much, but if you want to support a veteran, come haul me up twinkie sometime, I'm the climber with the army camo gear pack and the obvious military haircut. Barring rain, I'll be up again next weekend no matter how cold it is.
