The world has always been full of shitty, hate filled people, plus a few slightly more enlightened ones. Never going to change. Ever. Just take solace in the fact that in geologic time the whole of human existence is but a smashed bug on the windshield of a big SUV going 120mph.
It appears you and I agree about the seemingly permanent condition of human nature.

dhuff, either you are a troll, or using the word optimism to describe your hope is an understatement. It seems you are sincere in your hope/expectation that this will occur. Don't be too disappointed (Fight Club) when your beatific nirvana doesn't come to pass. I think the best you can hope for is for two super powers to face off in a stale mate, polarizing the geo political landscape so that predictability can occur in state action. Two big guys on the block coopting everyone else and not allowing a shuffling of the power structure.
People need leadership and some guys are drawn to be that leader. Ego has always been there and will be.
Take hope in a pathogen correction on the species proliferation.

Will you continue to exist making all everyday choices to serve the selfish interests of the ego? Or will you trust your higher self to guide your decisions in a way that will help the collective?

Word.
Fact is... live YOUR life. However you want to. Wherever you want to. Trying to push your version of the "truth" on everyone else is just as self serving and egotistical as the world you seem to loathe. There is no universal truth. If we all had the same philosophical viewpoint as you, there would be no debate. No new ideas. No creativity. We'd all be happy, smiling zombies, and who the hell wants that?
One more fact... ego is the one thing that pushes the world forward. Without it, we'd stay stagnant.

dhuff wrote:The chaotic state of the planet is surely related to the state of disharmony among the people on it. There have been numerous experiments showing that the torsional energy generated by various emotions that people can direct toward a cup of water is directly correlated to the symmetry and wholeness of the micro structure of the ice crystals when the sample is frozen. Positive energies such as love, compassion, etc. led to a perfectly symmetrical, naturally gorgeous pattern. The negative energies--hate, anger, greed, etc. led to a much more jagged and uneven formation of crystals when frozen. Does it not make sense to apply this to the earth as a whole, based on the general energies being created and expressed by the masses of humanity?
Dumb da dumb dumb.

that was my first thought too
There will always be a desire to take what one justifies as being deserved. Even if human nature allowed us to live harmoniously in a wold that provided everything (which it doesn't) we still live in a world where people are born in the desert, or in the mountains, or somewhere with ver limited ability to provide and equal share. There will always be 6 billion flu vaccinations for 7 billion people. Someone will fight for what they believe they have a right to.
On a side note, though I am not religious, and don't like to sound metaphysical, I do believe that thought is some form of energy and could possibly affect our surroundings (beyond causing my body to funtcion), over what distance and with what strength is not yet known. Hell, its probably weaker than gravity.

What I'm reading from some of you is that you sincerely believe there is no higher self, there is no universal truth, and no hope for humanity. There are no dimensions existing but ours, no such thing as harmony, and no connection between us. What convinces you of this? I've experienced some things that I'd be willing to say none of you have. Have you ever communicated with a friend on a fourth dimensional level with no time delay or physical gestures or words? I have. I know this plane exists. I've personally been there and my two friends verified that it was not just a delusion from the hallucinogens we had been taking. I know what it feels like to observe my physical existence without the mind's disruptive interpretations of it. It IS nirvana. It IS enlightenment. And if I can reach that state, anyone can. And if everyone reaches that level at the same time, the world I have described in previous posts WILL exist. I whole-heartedly disagree with the notion that new ideas spring solely from competition. I think working together with every person involved contributing what they can is much more productive. Also, if I come across as trying to force a belief on people, I apologize. I'm not trying to do that. I'm simply trying to present what I have learned is in store for the world so that people can try to better themselves and thus move us into the new age. I just get frustrated when people say an idea is ridiculous or inane when they have no evidence other than what the TV and their egos tell them. There is infinitely more to our lives than what we can currently perceive. I hope you guys understand that. Please, if you aren't sincerely interested in the subject matter of my posts, stay out. I'm not saying new ideas aren't welcome, but if you are coming onto this thread to attempt to shoot it down with these stale, worldly concepts of humans being nothing but corrupt chunks of biomass, I don't want to read your negative comments.

don't let the haters get to ya huff. i've experienced what you speak of. people have built such complex defense systems to justify their selfishness that to admit, or even conceive, that we are all interconnected pulls them from that comfortable space they have created in their minds. it makes them vulnerable and it makes them scared.
our body is light, we are immortal
our body is love, we are eternal
eternal
omniscient
omnipotent
omnipresent
without judgment
let go people. do you really believe that you're experience here, in these bodies, in your minds, is at the outer boundaries of what we are capable of? i really hope not.

And the rest of the "song" or whatever has plenty of good info for you touchy-feely new age types...
You open the door and step inside
We are now inside our hearts
Now imagine your pain as a white ball of light
Thats right your pain
The pain itself is a white ball of light
I don't think so
This is your life, good to the last drop
It doesn't get any better than this
This is your life and its ending one minute at a time
This isn't a seminar or a weekend retreat
Where you are now you can even imagine what the bottom will look like
Only after disaster can we be resurrected
Its only after you have lost everything that you are free to do anything
Nothing is static
Everything is evolving
Everything is falling apart
This is your life
It doesn't get any better than this
This is your life
And its ending one minute at a time
You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake
You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else

You are not your bank account
You are not the clothes you wear
You are not the contents of your wallet
You are not your bowel cancer
You are not your grande latte
You are not the car you drive
You are not your f***king khakis
You have to give up
You have to realize that one day you will die
Until you know that you are useless
I say never let me be complete
I say may I never be content
I say deliver me from Swedish Furniture
I say deliver me from clever art
I say deliver me from clear skin and perfect teeth
I say you have to give up
I say evolve

This is your life
