Not that I don't support any type of approach to lowering cancer cases, a lot more evidence and studies need to be done.
If you want to smoke pot, smoke it. But don't try to use some half-assed report posted on msnbc.com to justify it.
first of all, you called it a "bunch of crap", then immediately said "There just isn't enough evidence yet to support or deny this claim." so im cornfused.
interestingly, this study
does support the claim. you probably meant to use the word 'prove', which you're right, it does not. also, oncologists aren't really in the same business as clinical researchers and statisticians. close, but not really close at all.
and besides, the fact that pot gets one super stoned should be enough of a justification for anybody. after all, we don't really eat mac donalds because of the health benefits...

1.) No, oncologist aren't statisticians, but they do know a thing or two about cancer, and cancer prevention.
2.) They think it is crap, I'm skeptical.
3.) If it makes ya happy do it, just don't go whining when you have to suffer the consequences.
4.) Mmmm.....Big Mac.....

Cliftongifford...I hope your results come back benign.
Hey, if pot helps, go for it. Just put the frickin' cigarette down.
Thanks, the results of my CAT scan revealed a small calcified granuloma. It's calcified, therefore benign, so everything is good to go! Scared the hell out of me for a while, not knowing exactly what it was until I got the results. One good thing that came from the experience was that I was prompted to do some research about smoking pot. Although currently there's no correlation between weed and cancer, it can cause a suppressed immune system, copd, and other illnesses including mental and nervous disorders. Marijuana, it's not super safe, but neither is climbing, they both are fun and I will continue to enjoy them while I can.

they know what they have read or been taught

you should be skeptical of every report you read. Oncologists, good ones anyway, read several hundred research papers a year and do have an eye for what makes a good report, or a report that is conclusive enough to change ones practice. However, they are often quite set on there ways and stay true to what they have been taught, even if it came from the 70's. Is a larger study needed? Of course, these reports might suggest that a larger study may be necessary and should be funded.
Oh, and congratulations clifton. I glad to hear its benign
