I guy is fine. In fact he was climbing again 4 days later. Just a bruise on the lower back is all that happened. It shook-up the people who witnessed it more than the guy.
It's great to see that people who weren't there and don't know anything about it can conclude that the guy is an idiot. I'm sure that people like, tomdarch, et al have never made a mistake. There were several mistakes made that day, and the guy is aware of them. We all makes mistakes, hopefully we learn from them.
I know the guy is fine because, I am the "guy". I have a pain in my back, getting better day by day, and an embarassig story to tell. I hope it is not your turn next!!

I find it amusing that any "climber" would talk about natural selection. Hell, in the eyes of "ordinary" folks I would say we all come off as being idiots.

I think we all hack on each other regardless and that people shouldn't take it personally. I'm glad you're okay Montan.

Not me, nope never done anything wrong or made any mistakes.
The first day I put on climbing shoes it was like magic.... I was wicked strong and knew everything about climbing and ropes!
Montan,
Glad you are OK. Just learn from your mistake and move on. That is all we can do in life, not just climbing.
Although now that I have been climbing for quite some time I do have to admit one of my favorite catch phrases is, "Give'em all a rope and let gravity sort'em out."

montan,
I'm really glad to hear you are okay. I agree that we were probably more shook up than you were, but i'm still glad you made the trip to the hospital (you never know). If it makes you feel any better, we all climbed scared shitless the rest of the day. Prior to that day, I had never given much thought as to how difficult it would be to get an injured individual out of the southern region.
ScoBro,
I'm glad you posted this topic because now i'm figuring out everybody's "forum names." Hey, rhino, dking, stewy911 and scobro, any of you guys climbing on saturday?????????

The video was comforting to me. I watched it while waiting at the hospital, I thought I fell from about 10 to 12 feet, but the video showed it was only 6 to 7 feet. So as soon as I saw that I felt sure that there were no major injuries, just a pain in the back that would heal. After two hours in the hospital that's what the doctor concluded also.
Thanks to all at the crag who helped me that day. Climbing is a great sport.
