perhaps we glorify him for his accomplishments other than free soloing. he was one of the originals. he put up new climbs across the country, protected access, and from what I understand he was a hell of nice guy. i am sure he would never have made some douche comment about you if you were killed in what might have been considered an avoidable death. so stfu and stay out of this thread if you don't have anything nice to say.

Very sad! My thoughts are with his family and friends!!

Does anybody know if he put up any climbs at the gorge?

I could well be wrong but I don't think he had made it to RRG but had had a slideshow scheduled that had to be delayed following his auto accident in which his business associate was killed and John received some fairly serious injuries.

don't mean to be a hater, but did any of you guys actually meet the guy or talk to him? In my opinion, unless the guy was a personal friend or at least acquaintance, you have no business saying anything.

rusty I don't think you're a hater and you have the right to feel/think what you want but rockclimbers have an appreciation for Bachar and his life that runs contrary to your views

I did not mean any disrespect. I feel Bachar to be a legend in the sport - which makes his death all the more tragic.

I could debate the topic of free soloing all day, but you are correct in that this is not the appropriate forum. I apologize.

You are not wrong. The RRGCC had talked to him about rescheduling. Sad that there is no chance now to have him give his show at one of our events.

You haven't the slightest clue...

Right?
