are we going to post again this year about every time we see a copper head? They are everywhere, every year.
Now the ginormous timber rattler we saw today on the way out from the crossroads, that was badass, the first I have seen out there in 14 years of off trail hiking and climbing. pics are to come.

By no means "ginormous", but this little timber rattler caught Liz's eye.

I looked for the den of copperheads under Father and Son today, but they weren't out. Maybe they moved to Eureka?

thats the first timber rattler ive seen. seen many pacific northwest rattlers but they look a lot different. to tell the truth my color definition is getting a lot worse the past couple of years and i could barely see the snake in the picture, until i focused really hard. do u see many of them?

on second thought, what we saw was not a timber rattler, I assumed it was cus I thought that was the only type in kentucky, and its the only one I ever saw. What we saw was very thick, probably between 5 and 6 feet and bright yellow on top and black on the bottom, scared the bejeezus out of me for sure.
