Um, as long as you take the detour using 52, you should be able to get to bald fork road just fine. Last time I was down that way, the mother lode hill was in pretty good shape, but that was before all the rain.

i took "up the PMRP road" to mean "up the lode hill" since that's really the only UP that i worry about. sorry about mis-reading the post.

Dont want to blow any roadblocks (unless its the sheriff trying to block my export of sweet kentucky bourbon), just wondering if its possible to get to the Sore Heel area in a compact car. Havent made it to PMRP the last few times down, but looks like I may have to skip it again this time....

According to josephine's post, you can get in the back way(s). Continue down to beatyville and take 52 back up, or you can go through the river, but I doubt you will want to do that in your car.

Is there a KY DOT site where we can keep an eye on these type closures?
The reason I am asking is there is similar road washout on our back road drive up from Knoxville.
The Lode Hill is in OK condition from the rain. That is as of last Sunday.

on Sunday I got stuck (along with half a dozen other folks) behind a toyota car that got stuck in the mud leaving sore heel. A 4X4 truck pulling it from behind couldn't get it out. A local tow company came from the front and winched it out. It was just because of all the rain (and they were probably driving slow/not paying attention). In any regard, it sucked. good to know they'll come tow your ass out though...I think it was "kings" towing.

from what I saw the block is only ~200 yards long so you can get to bald rock road from the back way.

So does anyone know the best way to Linda Lago with 498 being closed? I was talking with someone last night and the way through Beattyville is pretty long. I think someone mentioned a detour off 52? Any info is appreciated!
Thanks
