the worst I have seen is a guy wearing harness, helmet and shoes attached to harness.....while eating breakfast behind Miguels.
The worst part is he was with a group of people that frequent the Red and have been climbing for years! They did not tell the poor guy!

and then just about 2 months ago I saw three climbers walk into the Shell station with harnesses on, plus chalk bag and shoes attached. Their climbing day was clearly over, and like the jerk I am, I chased them around with my cell phone to snap a picture...
you "real" climbers are so snobbish. why does it bother you so much that they wear their harness to the crag? its no more gumby-ish than stick clipping the first bolt on a proj...

Maybe they think they might have to rope up for the 3rd and 4th class approaches.

Yeah, I can't figure this one out. Dude has 30+ dollars worth of BD Autolockers hanging from his belay loop and a helmet on (Mammut maybe?)..... a stick clip costs 30 bucks or so.
What might be worse is that I don't even think that bolt will adequately protect the move that it is intended to protect.

Ironically I think people put their gear on a little early is to show people they know what is up. No big deal. Good question though.
I bet real yosemite climbers see a cragging climber with sporto backpacks and itsy-bitsy bright yellow V10 shoes hanging from them(because they don't fit inside). They might bust out the camera phone. Have fun fellas. Enjoy Snake Dike.
So maybe they are from the west coast?
