He doesn't need 'em.

And yeah, I am living vicariously through my two little rope guns. They'll hang the ropes for dad to ruthlessly top-rope, hang-dog, "take a little tighter son", reliving-my-glory-days hallelujah!

I'm hoping one gets into sport and one into mountaineering and then one into cycling and one into paddling. That is my hope at least...

And Boone is not going to be the hardman in the family. He's a little whiney and timid about everything. He'll be more like me and try to think through everything.

Now Lily, the little one, she's the fearless hardwoman-to-be. That kid jumps off the top stair whether I'm ready to catch her or not. I've dropped more groceries than necessary keeping that kid's mellon off the floor.

Chris, your post just described everything that is great about parenting. Yesterday my son was playing and ripped the doors off the closet. I was proud.

There are a lot of things I'm proud of that I keep to myself. Mom would be mad if I gave the kid a high five after some such acts of destruction. I am proud of my little home wreckers though.

Boone is quite the lightsaber duelist and after one such bout a "No Lightsabers in the Kitchen" rule was enacted. It applies to me as well. That was a few year ago and that rule is still strongly and oft enforced.
