There are other campsites around like Koomer Ridge and Whittleton. They are a little more expensive but they give you alternatives to camping. Lago is the best for nice quiet nights. If you don't mind some noise Miguels is the scene. You can camp numerous places on National forest land just get a permit from the shell station. There is always Torrent Falls..... world class cabins IMO and if you stay there you can climb there (pretty much all to yourself). Its an area not to be missed in my opinion, but I am biased as it was where I first learned to climb! :) Good luck!

The best 5.8 sport line in the red (as far as I know) is "27 years of climbing" at the gallery in the pmrp. Short approach, great rock and great moves. I can't imagine a beginning climber not having an awesome time on this route. Of course there's not much else as far as easier grades at this particular wall, but the gallery shares a parking lot with several other walls featuring excellent moderate sport routes.

True North Inn is always an option. It’s a hostel with 28 beds and a restaurant. True North Inn is 15 minutes from Muir, 25 minutes from PMRP and Roadside. It’s at exit 40 on the Mountain Parkway, then make a right on 15/715. Look for the log cabin on your right .6 of a mile. You can make reservations at 606-668-3745.

Peace,

Agreed with True North, the place is nice and not far from the Middle George and Muir.
