I have more trouble with dissapearing bits than dull ones. I have 3 sets and there's always a few missing. Never tried the drill Dr. but it always looked kinda gimmicky.. The problem with grinding is the wheel gets loaded after a while.

We use one at work. It is nice. Once you sharpen a drill bit, it it will dull much faster than a new drill bit, but it still saves money overall.

Can't tell you what it would really do with a masonry bit, though. If you decide to purchase one, don't get the base model. Get a model that will split the point. We buy split point drill bits at work. The drill doctor we were allowed to buy was not split point. bye bye split point when you sharpen a bit. That's government for you...ask for something you need and they'll buy the cheapest thing they can get even if it doesn't quite do the job you need it to do...
Sure is a lot of fun while you're doing it...

i went to home depot and they were $18.95 for the 12 inch and $22.95 for the 10 inch. i didn't price the short ones apparently were too short for what was needed. they had another brand that was $10 and when i asked the salesperson the difference they said it was how they fit into the drill and so i'm guessing that wasn't SDS.

perhaps i need to go somewhere other than home depot. :-)

Driskel - thanks for letting me know.

Don't waste your money on the Drill Doctor. Either sharpen the things yourself if you have the right equipment or bring them to a tool supply place to have them sharpened. You'll get a much better result.

Using a drill doctor is kind of like download the first thing you see on the internet advertising that it will speed up your computer for only $19.95. Although you might get a nice ShamWow if you act now, you're not going to be happy with the end result.

Why would you put a Sit Down Start on a route and why would you bolt it for that matter??
