NOLS doesn't teach any first aid courses-WMI does. NOLS runs WMI.

The WFR course is intended to be a 10 day course. I condensed it to a 9 day course with no break in the middle to accommodate college students and their spring semester. I agree with ynp1, if you make it even shorter it would be a lot of info and techniques thrown at you over a short period of time.
It would be nice if we all coordinated the courses that we are offering in this area. We offered a WFA in November and are offering the WFR in January. I was going to offer these course annually, but if other places are offering the same courses then maybe I'll offer something else. Who knows.. I need to offer a WFR re-cert..

Thank you all for the interest. I left out the specific dates of the WFR in Feb. at Muir Valley. The course will be held from February 19-23. If you are interested, please register as early as you can as there is precourse homework and online testing prior to the course start. This allows for more hands on time during class. As soon as you register, I'll get you set up with the testing company. Hope to see you there!!

Kelso also failed to mention the WFR course EKU is offering will be held at a cool lodge (Maywoods) just outside of Berea with a lake and bunk-style accommodations along with a full kitchen and showers. place and a great outdoor classroom. That's a cheap price considering you don't have to drive home every night!

There will be a Wilderness Advanced Life Support (WALS) course at Lago Linda's from March 16-20, 2009. If I can get at least 10 people to register, I can host a WFR Recert course the weekend before (3/13-15). This is a three day Open Recert course from Wilderness Medical Associates that can recertify WMA, WMI or SOLO WFR certification.

The cost is $200/person. Lodging and food will be included for about $100 if needed. Upon completion, WMA certification will be awarded and good for three years. CPR recert is also included in the course. If anyone is interested, please email me at office@backcountryrescue.com. Sorry if too short notice. We will also do a recert later on in summer as well.

Any chance for the months of June/July

I'm in need of a WFR recert and would like to do it in the Gorge. Would you consider getting people together for June/July?
