Way to stick it to the man by boycotting his trail day. :roll: Maybe next time you're out at Muir with the family you can drop a big ol' deuce on the trail to really let him know who is boss..
:lol:
This is just funny...maybe this whole thing is getting a little outta hand?

Why Boycott MV. All this hype has been generated by paranoia. Rick made a statement that he was going to offer four or five days of free guiding per year to worthy candidates!!!! How is this going to affect local guide services???? It wont! So Rick takes a few needy kids out to the Crag a few times a year! I personally comend him for being generous with his time and resources. Rick has done more for the local community than any individual at the Red!!!! Rick freely advertises these companies on his web-site. The guy is getting ready to retire and has no intention of competing with local outfitters by starting a guiding service. Maybe the local guide services should talk to Rick face to face before going on line and slandering him. Everyone has played the game telephone and we all know how things get distorted as they pass from one person to the next. I think certain individuals not only need to apologize to Rick in a face to face manner but also publicly on line. Im friends with all the individuals involved and will not take sides but a good friend lets his buddies know when they are out of line!!!!! I think its time for everyone to kiss and make up and resolve this huge misunderstanding. Local outfitters are only cutting their own throats by boycotting MV. If a few individuals want to Boycott MV that just leaves more room for the rest of us.

Wow. Three exclamation points? A bold statement, indeed.

Anyway...shut up and let it run it's own course.

1 point to make sure is very clear.

I have never, will never and do not agree with any kind of boycottig of MVTD. If you climb there you should help, simple rules that apply for every area.

The rest of this whole topic got out of hand and the facts on all sides have been lost in a sea of shit.

Really? Not to trivialize anything the Webers have done, but that statement is far from accurate.
Kahlil Gibran wrote:There are those who give little of the much which they have - and they give it for recognition and their hidden desire makes their gifts unwholesome.

And there are those who have little and give it all.

These are the believers in life and the bounty of life, and their coffer is never empty.

There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.

And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism.

And there are those who give and know not pain in giving, nor do they seek joy, nor give with mindfulness of virtue;

They give as in yonder valley the myrtle breathes its fragrance into space.

Though the hands of such as these God speaks, and from behind their eyes He smiles upon the earth.

It is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked, through understanding;

And to the open-handed the search for one who shall receive is joy greater than giving

And is there aught you would withhold?

All you have shall some day be given;

Therefore give now, that the season of giving may be yours and not your inheritors'.

You often say, 'I would give, but only to the deserving.'

The trees in your orchard say not so, nor the flocks in your pasture.

They give that they may live, for to withhold is to perish.

Surely he who is worthy to receive his days and his nights is worthy of all else from you.

And he who has deserved to drink from the ocean of life deserves to fill his cup from your little stream.

And what desert greater shall there be than that which lies in the courage and the confidence, nay the charity, of receiving?

And who are you that men should rend their bosom and unveil their pride, that you may see their worth naked and their pride unabashed?

See first that you yourself deserve to be a giver, and an instrument of giving.

For in truth it is life that gives unto life - while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness.

And you receivers - and you are all receivers - assume no weight of gratitude, lest you lay a yoke upon yourself and upon him who gives.

Rather rise together with the giver on his gifts as on wings;

For to be overmindful of your debt, is to doubt his generosity who has the free-hearted earth for mother, and God for father.

yeah I gotta take issue with that too. That's a very naive, short sighted perspective. Rick and Liz are top quality people. Yet, if it weren't for a handful of people who came before MV and the Webers, we would all be climbing at the New River Gorge.
